NVN @ the Hamilton Children's Peace Day (November 12, 2005)

Format NVN workshops are based entirely on an interactive approach. Learning occurs by engaging participants in fun and stimulating activities. Discussion is an important part of our workshops.

(our Educational Information Package)

Age NVN runs workshops for youth groups ages 10 and above.

Group size There really is no minimum group size. It is important to note, however, that because of the interactive nature of our workshops, sessions are most effective if groups do not exceed 30 participants. We will do the best we can to accommodate a group of any size.

Time The more time available, the better! Because there are many topics covered in a peace education workshop, they are most effective when there is a sufficient amount of time to discuss and brainstorm. When working with schools, our workshops have typically been run in a series of six 50-minute sessions. We are, however, very flexible to your needs.

Cost None! There is no cost for NVN workshops because of our volunteer and donation based approach.

Facilitators Our facilitators are all from the local community of Hamilton-Wentworth. We draw largely from students of McMaster University. In the past, NVN has been a practicum placement for students taking the Level II Peace Studies course, Theory and Practice of Nonviolence. We will be running training sessions for new volunteers at the beginning of each university term.
